Porter was diagnosed with atrioventricular canal defect. He had duodenal atresia repair surgery at 2 days old and spent the first 50 days of his life in the NICU. Porter underwent a complete ASD repair surgery in January of 2021 at Texas Children's Hospital. The Local Heart Foundation provided assistance with lodging, food, and gas expenses for 3 weeks while the family was in Houston.
